It's a big deal when you have kids that want to play games on your computer all the f'ing time.Even a mediocre gaming PC owns the new consoles. One could build a computer for the same price as the new console, and not only have a superior gaming machine, but it's also a full on PC...I really don't see the big draw(at least for strictly gaming) to get a new console. I need a decent PC at home anyway for work, so throwing a few other items in it for gaming just makes sense.
It is a big deal if you're going to play a lot of multiplayer / split screen type stuff. Which I never do.
I just bought an Xbox 360 yesterday. 20gig HD, Kinect, 2 wireless controllers, and Minecraft game... all for $205 pre-owned from Gamestop with a 1-year full warranty.

If you have a Wii and an SD card, you can mod it into an emulator and play all the old school games you can handle. My son and I were playing Donkey Kong and Defender last night.
From the herb, to the powder, to the rock. Next step... rehab.I jumped ship after the N64 and went to Xbox 360, now i'm getting off the console bandwagon all together and going to PC gaming.
I just got a 250 gig PS3 with the new Batman game and some game called The Last Of Us with one controller for $199. Then got Black Ops 2 and Madden 25 both for $70. Under $300 to this point and waiting till the controllers go on sale to get another.I just bought an Xbox 360 yesterday. 20gig HD, Kinect, 2 wireless controllers, and Minecraft game... all for $205 pre-owned from Gamestop with a 1-year full warranty.
what about a 2in1?
they are notebook sized touch screens with a full keyboard that can fold out of the way. Its a work / media kinda effort. I havent used one just read about them being popular.2 PC's in one? or are you talking about an all in one where the (typically touch screen) display holds the hardware as well?
