The open or closed setting only sets the face when you set the club down on a flat surface. Otherwise does nothing. The weights (draw or normal settings) have the most effect for shot shape. The loft is the one next to tinker with. Don't bother with the U (upright) loft settings. They didn't do a thing for me (or limpalong). I think adding length will make that shaft work better too.Picked up the R1 from WBL. It has my favorite shafts in it, but feels short. So I am going to add about 1-1.5". I also don't know where to set it as far as open or closed I have it set at 2 degrees closed.

It would only make sense on a flat surface. On the grass you just can't tell. And I always setup to the ball with the face square
Huh? You mean for the upright setting? But your driver does not touch the ground on impact, so upright or flat has no relevance.Maybe guys with shorter drivers than 45.5-46"?

I may be wrong but I think it makes a difference. If the face was a flat 0* I don't think it would, but the driver has loft. If that angle is tilted then the spin axis of the ball will be tilted...causing curvature in ball flight.Huh? You mean for the upright setting?
