Watched some show on the Haiti quake last night on the discovery channel.
Some great footage, some terrible footage, some interesting points brought up.
Apparently these seismologists are confused as to the actions of that fault line. Its supposed to be the type of fault where one plate is moving east and the other is moving west, however, coral on the north side of the fault has heaved up out of the water, while farm land to the south(north and south may be flopped here...) has been flooded by ocean water. Meaning one plate is moving up and over the other...odd behavior i guess for this type of joint.
Also, from their research, they are predicting several more earthquakes in that area and Jamaica over the next two decades or so.
How much of this to believe...well, who knows. I have watched shows on weapons on the discovery channel in which i could point out MANY inconsistencies with reality. I just don't know much about earthquakes to pick out the truth from the false.
Sounds like Haiti isn't out of the woods yet though.
