I played this course The Golf Club at Oxford Geens -- Oxford, Connecticut -- Managed by Billy Casper Golf on a Sunday morning in early August 2008.
To start, I felt it was a tad pricey at $91 with cart. Once I finished my round up on 18, I felt a lot better about the price.
I have to say, I don't think I've ever played a course that is so well set up to use every club in the bag. I may have used every club twice actually. Longer holes are setup well to be able to hit a driver and find the fairway. Shorter holes will tempt you to bomb it but trouble is in all the correct spots to bite you.
Greens are undulating and pretty fast. Shaping an iron in correctly will pay big dividends. Good ballstrikers could light this course up.
The course was very well manicured and very scenic. It really is carved right into the woods, high up in Connecticut.
If I had to compare it to another course? I'd say it's kind of like a "poor man's" Lake of Isles.
