OK - As I am now an avid watcher of the golf channel, I like to watch Golf Academy Live. It was great to watch Golf Academy Live such as the other night when they had the Golf Digest Worst Swing Contest. Now, Monday night they had the PGA Pro from Pinehurst on talking about hitting shots from right-to-left and left-to-right.

For a freaking hour, I watched him talk about golf shots. He stood on the Golf Academy indoor practice tee with clubs and never even hit a shot. He stood there playing and rolling around practice balls and talked, and talked, and talked, and repeated everything he said before. They cut to an outside camera shot at Pinehurst and he hit 1 freaking pitch shot. They cut back to the indoor range and he hit a little crappy half-assed fairway wood........

I wondered if he even knew what he was talking about. Usually, a visiting Pro will talk and then show the shots..... Not this guy...... Hey, if I want to watch someone play with a stick, I will watch some Porn.......

Now, for the "great" David Pelz. I have not been watching him long on the Golf Channel, but he gives good instruction........ But (There's always a But.)..., He seems to get very mad at amateur golfers shots. He will say stuff like, "Don't hit to the right" or "Look at where you are hitting it". He is so damn stern.... If I want a drill instructor, I will join the Marines........

Does anyone out there see this on the Golf Channel. I understand that Golf is an elite game, but most of us are Hackers and just love to go out and hit the ball around.......

My peace.........

Its not hard to be a PGA teaching Pro and their methods vary greatly,as does their teaching ability. The Golf Channel have to fill 24 hours and there is only so many ads for the Plus 10,Big Eazies and 'The Knife' they can show.
I don't object with Pelz tbh

I object to Pelz. I brought this up a couple of months ago. This guy talks to the camera (hence the home viewer) like they are 5 year old retard. He is an ass, and I refuse to watch him.

He is and ass but the man knows what he talks of. My putting has become why better after some of his tips.

Pelz

Different strokes. Obnoxious is absolutely his style, and it comes through not only through the camera, but in his writing. But the man was initially a rocket scientist (not to mention a pretty good golfer), so I guess it should be expected.

As with everything else, his stuff should be picked through, choosing what works for you. I like the fact that he tests EVERYTHING, and only makes recommendations based on the results of that (apparently exhaustive) testing. I liked his putting bible, but his insistance that we underread the break on putts just did not work for me at all.

I liked his short game bible considerably less, as it really boils down to grooving three different swings (1/4, 1/2, and 3/4) with each wedge. In short, practice your ass off, and know your distances. Well, no kidding.

FWIW, his teacher putting clips are the absolute bomb for grooving center contact.

Couldn't agree more, I have never liked his teaching methods.

I agree 110%

I do like Playing Lessons From the Pros though

Completely true bd.
Pelz is an arse.
So what if he makes all those statistics. What does it bring to your game? Nothing.
Statistics like: pros hit the ball with their putter on the sweetspot 98% of the time, while the beginner hits the sweetspot 10% of the time...
So hit the sweetspot.
DUH!!!

Did any of you watch when Pelz gave a lesson about reading greens?
What a crackup.
During the whole show, he only talked about the path of the ball when it is breaking.
But did he tell you how to read greens? No sir.
Did he tell you what the grain is for? No sir.
Did he tell you about the importance of speed in breaking putts? No sir.
What did he tell you? To practice....
Wow... I'm astounded. Yes Mr. Pelz, I'm a retard.

In all of his shows, I haven't seen him teach any technique whatsoever. All his shows are only misdirections. His findings aren't revelations, it's just common sense.

Man... I'm venting again...

I would definitely hate to be the PGA Pro who may have to hire him as a coach. I would have to hurry up, do what he says, and get the hell to the house before the man gets mad at me........
