I'm sure there is a reason but why do some drivers have lines across the entire face and some don't. Is it spin related? Does it effect distance?

The thinner faced walls of drivers don't have lines in thier faces as it creates a weak spot within the wall face. For a flat faced club, the lines are there/ were there only to channel away moisture apon impact. Some companies have them, others don't.

Hope this helps,

Yes smooth ones have less spin which means a little moredistance, most of them will be banned soon.

Why? I must have missed something.

Less spin, yes, but how much less?

And less spin off the driver (to a point) means less workability. So, if you want a driver that goes straight and straight only, you want less spin. Which I guess would mean no lines.

Right? :p
