I can buy three wedges for what they want for one. I will say that Cleveland has gone down hill since losing Roger and Cally has risen!

Roger Cleveland sold Cleveland Golf to a French ski manufacturer in 1990. He remained with Cleveland until 1995 and joined Callaway in 1996... almost 20 years ago. They didn't just hire him to "make the Mack Daddy 2". Roger has designed wedges for Callaway for a long, long time.
Cleveland has struggled over the past few years. If it weren't for the huge coffers of Dunlop/Srixon current ownership, I believe they would have fallen a long time ago. At one time, the 588 was THE wedge on Tour.

Bob Vokey had worked for Gary Adams at Taylor Made. When Taylor Made sold, Vokey and Adams started Founders Club. Then, in 1996, Vokey joined Titleist to assit in design of the 975D driver. He, then, began designing wedges for Titleist. With the Titleist name carrying Tour creds and Cleveland going through some marketing issues, the Vokey line of wedges quickly eclipsed Cleveland as the choice of Tour pros. Note the chronology... Roger leaves Cleveland in 1995 and Vokey joins Titleist in 1996, the same year Roger goind Callaway.

Wedges have always been a 'red-headed stepchild' to Callaway. Now going through some extremely difficult financial challenges, Callaway etched Cleveland's name onto the Mack Daddy 2 wedges... and is being sued by Dunlop/Srixon/Cleveland for trademark infringement. The industry "artists" are getting old. Roger Cleveland, Bob Vokey, Scotty Cameron, Bob Bettenardi... and we don't see the corporate structures spending the money for artist R&D. It's much less expensive to use a CAD software program to add a different color plastic to the backside of an iron and release it as the best thing since sliced bread.

yeah. but i picked up some md2 in the store and like them better than the rtx 588s i got rid of. I hope they are as sweet as a dream when I get my hands on them.

Correct. As I said, Vokey is aging... and has no financial worries. Titleist is looking for a replacement and has picked up Patrick. It will be interesting to see if the Patrick name can bring the same auora as Vokey. The wedge line that seems "hot" right now is Greg Hopkins' "Hopkins Golf". Wow! The customizaton available on his site is phenomonal. Hopkins was a designer for Cleveland and left to start his own company. I really believe he will be picked up by someone like Callaway or TMAG.

Rec'd a nice Dick's gift card for Christmas. Their on-line site has the wedges new for $69 and free shipping. So, I was able to burn the gift card and get the new wedges.

I really like the Cally X Forged wedges, first Cally wedges that I liked the look and feel of. They are really hard to find in the lofts I am looking for though.

I need more time or an exemption. I need wedges but haven't found a deal that I am happy with yet.

I'm in, but I will be buying wedges before the start of the season. I have been waiting for RBG to have another decent sale on Scratch wedges.
