Nothing bought. Guess I'm supposed to be in that group of ladies... laddies who are sworn to play the entire year with what was in our bags at the end of 2013. Played the past couple of days. Temps in the 30's at night and 50's during the day. Ground still frozen. Greens still are like solid asphalt. Tough to get a good feel for anything. However...
Kept doubting myself for buying the R1TP with the shaft designed for someone with the strength of a Russian weightlifter. Yet, these past couple of days, the doubt is subsiding. I know the old duffers on here are naysayers when it comes to the adjustable drivers. It took me some toying with all those bolts and screws, but it really does seem dialed in. I've hit more baby draws the past two days than I hit all last season. Various reviews of the R1 talked about the harsh feel and obnoxious noise. I don't notice either. Sound... Heck! I'm going on 68 years old with enough hair growing out of my ears to make a German barmaid jealous. I can't hear anything, especially some noise of a driver making contact with a ball. As far as feel, even in this cold weather, it seems to have an "I just mashed that ball!" feeling when you catch it on the screws. You can't get lazy with this shaft. However, if you concentrate and stay with it through the entire swing, the ball just seems to take off and go.
The new Jaws wedges are interesting. The 52 degree may well replace the pitching wedge in whichever set of irons I bag. I've had the BStones in the bag this winter. Since putting in the Jaws, I simply do not use the pitching wedge. I can get on the 52 degree and hit it every bit as long... and with what seems to be more accuracy. The bounce and grind on both the 52 and 58 are completely different than I've been used to on my old Ping wedges. It's going to take some getting used to. So far, I'm still reservedly optimistic that these wedges will grow on me.
Bottom supposed to drop out of temps, again tonight. Talking about highs, this week, being in the 20's and 30's. Possibility of some flurries. Doesn't sound like a good week for golf. Cart partner and I are shopping for a different cart and may spend a couple of days concentrating on that. If I trade carts, does that count as an equipment change per the agreement to not purchase anything new?????

Congrats on the driver and wedges, glad they are working out for you. I think a cart purchase is well within the rules.
We bought this 2004 EZ Go almost exactly 5 years ago. It was a trade in, out of a fleet at the local Country Club. Had a 'Door Works' winter cover installed and new batteries. Don't know how many rounds was on the cart when we bought it. My partner and I have probably put well over 100 rounds/year on it... so over 500 rounds. It's not in bad shape, other than it has developed a bad "growl" in the rear-end/motor area. The cart mechanic has looked at it, along with the dealer, and neither can seem to decide what the noise is. The batteries are about shot. Do we put new batteries in this one, not knowing if there is something mechanically wrong that is causing the noise. Will it run another 5 or 6 years with the new batteries? Or, will it cost us an arm and a leg if it goes belly up.Congrats on the driver and wedges, glad they are working out for you. I think a cart purchase is well within the rules.
The local dealer has some options. One of the guys at our course just traded in a 2002... yes, 2 years older than ours... that he bought new. He probably doesn't play 30 rounds/year. He put a 'Door Works' winter cover on, along with new batteries, 2 years ago. Even though the year of manufacture is 2 years older, the cart has lots less "miles". It's alwasy been shedded and is in pristine condition. We can trade our for this one at just what the new batteries would cost us for ours.
The dealer also has a couple of 2009's and, of course, plenty of new carts. The 2009's are still in that time when EZ Go changed to 48 volt and was having problems. Also, my Titleist Lightweight Cart Bag... or any C130 Sun Mountain... won't fit in the bag well on these carts. The 2009's would have brand new batteries and would have new 'Door Works' enclosures.
We're going to run down there, tomorrow, and take a hard look at the 2002. If it's as good as everyone says it is, that's probably how we'll go. If not, we'll take whichever of the 2009's looks like it's had the fewer rounds on it.

Went perusing the bay today for grins and stumbled upon these beauties, I've hit them in the past so decided for $75 I had to have them. Anyone else have any experience with the MacGregor 1025c's???

What? You have the R1 "TP"? Hope my run-of-the-mill, average R1 can make that magic too.
With the R1, the only difference between your "cheap a**, blue collar, garage sale" R1
and the TP is the shaft. The heads are EXACTLY the same. You simply pay $100 more for an upgrade shaft. The standard R1 "S" shaft is 58 gr at 3.4 degrees of torque. The TP "S" shaft is 65 gr at 2.8 degrees of torque.I had a gift certificate to Dick's given to me that covered the TP... plus some. (That was after the R1 series began to get marked down from the original MSRP.) I always struggle with an "interesting" hitch in my swing. The tighter torque keeps the head where it's supposed to be.
Picked up a second R1, a week or so ago, with an "R" shaft. The heads on both are identical except for serial number. In fact, I have my TP shaft in the head that came with the standard "R" shaft in it.
I honestly believe you will enjoy the R1, I most certainly have!!
Funny but I've always done better with a higher torque (and lately) lighter shaft so I think you're right. Now if I could only find somewhere to hit it!
