I haven't bought a pack of balls in a week or two, but I have a statement/question and I wanted you guys to weigh in a bit with your oppinions.

I am a faithful guy when it comes to balls, I only play three, ever, I play Titleist prov1's, and NXT TOUR S, and Srixon Q-STAR's. And my grippe is that golf balls aren't durable enough for me. I am a grass to grass player, and I clean my ball every hole, but I find that after nine holes, my ball is very scratched up, and and abused, after only nine holes. Is it that I am playing weak balls? Or is it some thing I am doing to make them get scratched and dinged up after nine?

Things that will mess up a ball:

    rocks
    trees
    dirt
    sand
and if you are hitting them properly...your wedges and I believe those isi-k's will do the trick because of the grooves.

I play Srixon balls and if I'm hitting my wedges right, I chew them up.

Lol. My porsche...no, my wife porsche, had tires that wear out in 20k miles. The point is grip, or traction, like the polyurethane cover on those balls. They havent figured out how to make a hard sticky surface yet.

That's all part of playing a ball with a soft cover. One 3/4 shot with a SW will tear the hell out of a ProV1. For me, I don't mind it. I would rather have the green-side spin than have a ball that will last forever. Plus, I'm pretty inaccurate with my long clubs so I can't tell if a scuffed ball flies any differently than a brand new one.

Thanks, I didn't think about the club I was using, and as I said I am a grass to grass player, I rarely hit trees paths rocks etc, well maybe trees... And bunkers. Are the ISIK's grooves more aggressive than others?

I think it's because you are playing golf.

The ball will play the same until you cut it. don't worry about scratches.

The grooves on your iSi's are not overly aggressive. They are nothing like the original Eye 2 irons. I played the Eye 2+ BeCu for the past 5+ years and they have basically the same groove as on the iSi. I have played ProV's for 54 holes with no issue. The only time I really need to take a ball out of play is when one decides to do jumping jacks on a concrete cart path.
I will play approximately 150 rounds/year, depending on weather and work. Haven't bought a golf ball in... can't even remember. Probably well over 10 years. Had two dozen give to me a couple years ago. Gave them for prizes at the company tourney. Have five or six dozen Titleists in the basement, still in the boxes. My daughter gets them given to her and she doesn't play golf. I put 'em in the basement and haven't touched them.
We play early a.m. and find a number of excellent condition balls on the course. I could care less if it's new. As long as it's not cut up or otherwise cut/chipped they have plenty of holes left in them.
I have no idea what you're doing that causes such damage to your golf balls.

Ok thanks for all the help guys! Good news is I might get a couple new wedges on clearance on Saturday!
