Very true, but having a driver missed marked for loft did not help. It's one of the main reasons I hesitate now when looking at ping drivers.

And I know there are manufacturers tolerances but pings seem to be the most out of whack

No, I had a kusala black x in that classic 310. I thought I was man enough because I hit a made for whiteboard well. I wasn't. I'm pretty confident though that with a tour head and Miyazaki tour issue shaft -vs- that Rapture his launch is coming down.

I've found the same to be true with Callaway. I don't get along well with them at all.

A shaft with tourque of 3.5 and above is loose feeling to me also. It just feels all over the place. Ideal for me is 2.9-3.1 m, it's a feel thing-lower and it's rebar higher and it's a wet noodle.

The idea for higher tourque is so that slower swingers get the club face squared faster...for more distance. That's how I understood the explanation years ago.

I think torque has more to do with tempo and release. A guy could have a ton of club head speed so long as he let's that speed build like a wrecking ball (moderate/deliberate tempo) and let's the release happen with body rotation rather than forcing it with hands and hit a higher torque shaft great.

It's not that it won't work, it's more of a feel thing.

Flex isnt torque.

My kbs reg flex irons are somewhere around 1.5° torque. They also tend to cpm flex as a R+ or medium firm, like the wedges I had tested before I sent them to FairwaySplitter.

My shaft in driver is a stiff, like my 3w, and both hybrids, but the torque in the long sticks is 2.2 or less, and whatever the rescues are, usually 3.0 or higher.

The Driver and 3w dont close or open much. They are long and a little torque goes a long way. The hybrids have more, but I am usually playing draw or cut shots and want the action whether from the tee or the left and right rough, recovering. Irons I dont care as much, they are all shorter and controllable, and are lower torque than any other clubs in the bag including the wedges which I think are DG. The wedges are getting driven through a lot and the s flex helps them resist a lot. They are ok, but not unique like my driver.

Spend a few bucks and build a long drive club. 48-50 inchish, with one of those x flex penley shafts they sell on ebay for like 11 bucks sometimes. You will enjoy the smash. They have xx and xxx for the moosemeat.

And this whole idea of its feel or its this or that...what it is - is rotation of the shaft at the head. Its your question as to how much is good for you, and its gonna show up in the left and right dispersion of your shots, not the distance. This may feel one way or another, because of stiff shaft, firm grips etc, but those things dont matter much, unless they effect where the ball flies to.
