I do all my own work now too. I've taken off grips and found "pieces" of two sided tape instead of a full wrap. Good grief.

A full wrap of tape is not necessary to hold a grip. I use zero tape. I just blow them on. I have used partial strips in the past. Lots of methods work.

Removing an existing layer of tape is not necessarily a shortcut. A lot of guys want an extra layer of tape for buildup and this saves time and expense. I usually leave original layer on.

Factory double sided is amazingly thin, I rather strip it clean and build up with masking tape. More consistent thickness in the build up layers.

I had never played KBS shafts until picking up this set of iBlades almost a year ago. They have been the best feeling, most consistent steel golf shaft I have ever used. They are the Tour 120 (S). Figured I could never hit them at my age. The money I've cleaned out of the geezers pockets just this week is a testament to how they seem to have fit me pretty well. Don't rush to judgement. Play them a few rounds.

Ended up being the KBS Tour C Taper 105 shafts which apparently are proprietary, only available through TaylorMade. I plan to give them a good run, and from what I can find out from the limited information available on them, they should play similar to my Nippon 950GH Pro’s in my Florida bag. The only KBS shafts I have gamed are the KBS Tour 90’s in my Florida hybrids and I have had good luck with those.

One fun fact that I learned when researching the shaft is the designer is Kim Braly who designed the Rifle shaft with his father as well as the Project X shafts that were specifically designed for Phil Mickelson (who uses KBS shafts in his irons, now).

Similar, but different. Lighter by 5g across the flexes, different profile such as the tip of the 105 is not as firm as the lite, and different finish (chrome vs satin) The only place I have found the specs is on the TM Custom Shafts sheet/pdf.

I love my Cleveland but I wanted a blade putter and a mallet putter to switch off. Played the Tour Edge today and it is really nice. Putted good with it.

Hmmm ... I read the article and I must say that I’m sceptical. It focuses on the composite shaft as some sort of miracle koolaid while ignoring so many other factors that influence putting performance.

For example, in my case, my putting performance drastically increased when I changed to a counterbalanced putter. That is, the putter has a weight in the grip. I couldn’t imagine not using a counterbalanced putter. The article doesn’t mention counterbalancing but focuses on shaft flex. I find it hard to believe a putter shaft flexes.

UST has had a composite putting shaft (Frequency Filtered) on the market for over a decade and I still do not see anyone on tour using it. I have one, it’s a nice shaft, but I didn’t magically start sinking more putts with it versus a regular steel shaft. Other than Callaway sponsored players, I have not seen anyone adopting this new shaft into their putters.
