Well, I haven't bought a club since May 7th. That may not sound impressive to many, but some of you know it's quite an achievement for a club fanatic like me. I've been tempted quite often. I look at fairway woods to match my Ping G400 driver every week. It has helped that they are hard to find. However, it does reinforce my belief that they are good. Hopefully I'll either make it through to the end of the year or I'll find the Ping fairways somewhere online for a great price.

Well, I haven't bought a club since May 7th. That may not sound impressive to many, but some of you know it's quite an achievement for a club fanatic like me. I've been tempted quite often. I bought a new TaylorMade driver when I started playing a again a few years ago. Last year, I bought a new adjustable Tour Edge driver.

I'm playing the 15 year old Nike Sumo driver because I hit it better than anything else. Club makers translate our excitement for the game and illogical trust that we can be just a LITTLE BETTER!!! into huge profits. lol

Picked up one of those "C Wedge" frustrating pieces of metal some months ago. Every time I allow it back in the bag I want to toss it in the dumpster on the way out of the course!!!! Don't know if I've ever had a club that I have used so little and detest so much. It's, basically, a 9-iron loft. The short, fat little dotard will chip like a wedge one time and a 4-iron the next. It has zero directional intelligence.
We have this relationship that mirrors the Bobbits. I tell her she better perform or I'll cheat on her with something much more satisfying to the eye and pleasing to the mind. Then when I do take her out, it's as if she gets pleasure from castrating me and laughing the entire time.
Now that you've reminded me that she is waving at me from the basement, maybe I'll put her back in the bag tomorrow. It's probably been about 28 days since she last saw daylight and ruined a good round of golf, so she outta be about ripe to be out of sorts again!!!

It’s an experiment. I found myself putting from places I should have been chipping from because I did not trust the chipping stroke. It’s got to be better than using a putter out of Bermuda rough or from 20 feet off the green. If not, there is a casket (old hard side travel case) in the garage where clubs that should not see the light of day are stored that has some room in it.

I have the same thing but it is in the corner of the basement! I think that travel case may have even lost a wheel but it is a coffin for failed clubs.

I figured it’s worth a shot. I can not possible chip any worse than I have been. I tried Cleveland’s CBX Wedges last year, and they were definitely easier to use compared to normal wedges, but when it came to chipping, I could still chili dip or blade it across the green frequently.

For me, it’s all about the lack of practice time. I do not practice enough to maintain any kind of consistency with Tour style wedges. I am hoping these crutches will allow me to maintain a shred of dignity around the greens given the limited amount of time I spend practicing.

The third and final tool of desperation has arrived. Mazel 55 degree chipper wedge (Square Strike copy cat). Once I regrip all of the new “wedges” they will be taken out into the wild to compete for that coveted spot in my bag.

My CBX 52 degree is in and out of the bag. Right now, she is in time out. I really have enjoyed her except for one thing that bugs me. When chipping from anything longer than fairway grass, something the lip of the cavity will catch as I take the club back. If I can stop the swing and reset, can sometimes make it work. If I can't stop... the result is not pretty. If all my wedge shots were from the fairway, she is solid. We have postage stamp greens and a lot of chipping is from the green surrounds.
