Brett Favre unretirement talk

a true Bears fan would never want Farve on the Bears.....he is the enemy! "so obvious they are going to kill us"..???????????!!!!!!!!!! what, like they did last year;)..if you remember, Bears beat the crap out of them twice with a beat up defense. I'm a true Bears fan, through thick and thin. 2 years removed from the superbowl and you're talking like that?!....I dont understand. I'm sitting here typing away with my Bears shirt and Bears hat on, and cant believe that a "fan" will not believe.....gotta believe!

I'm sitting here with my bears t-shirt as well lol I can be a fan, I even went to the U.S. for the Superbowl, but we have to be realistic. One thing is wanting for something to happen and something else is being objective about posibilities. Vikings and Packers are growing each day, and we are only getting old. Angelo has made a lot of mistakes, and its time for us to start all over, build a team again, from scratch. We need a QB, and we need it NOW. I think a bear fan would want their team to win, and that's what I want, even if the enemy has to be in our side.

As a lifelong Favre fan, I'm torn by all of this.............and really tired of hearing about it. My solution: Ask Favre to guarantee that he'll play for the Packers for the next two years...........then trade Rogers. Favre revived the Green Bay franchise single handedly. How can they let him play for someone else? The State of Wisconsin loves the Guy..........he's one of us.

Imagine it's Monday, Sept 8, 2008. Brett Favre stands before the crowd on opening day at Lambeau, and thanks them for the honor of retiring his number.

Then he puts on his purple helmet and throws 3 TD's against the Pack.

Too ridiculous to even contemplate. Yet it could happen.

He has marketable skills - I see no problem with him asking for a release. I'd hate to be sitting and watching someone do my job for me also.

As much as I respect Favre and what he has done for the team and the state, I am kind of siding with the Packers on this. He has pulled this stunt for a few years now and it is really hampering their ability to go into the draft with a plan and enter into the pre-season with a plan. Crap or get off the pot, Brett.

Will the Packers be better with Favre this year than without, yes. Will the Packers be better off a year or two down the road when he's gone if they do not give Rogers a shot this year, no. Favre can not last forever, its time they find out if their QB of the future can play or if they need to go in another direction. Even if Favre does play, he's due for an injury. Playing as long as he has without missing games is starting to catch up to him. I guarantee you that is why he attempts to retire right after the season each year and then after a few months of recovery decides he can play again. Take your money and run while you can still walk fairly normally.

The thing is...........Favre has proven how durable he is. But Rogers???? I have my fears.

He came in against Dallas last year, and played very well. I'm talking about being "fragile". He broke his foot in preseason 2 years ago doing pretty much nothing.

How would you know?
I watch every minute of every Packer game from preseason on. I guess I would know a little.

I would not rank him as the greatest ever, Montana, Young, Bradshaw, possibly even Elway were better quarterbacks & their number of Superbowl rings proves it.

You're just pissed 'cause he broke all of Marino's records (you Dolphins fan you :D ) and since he holds all the records, in my book, he's the best that's played the game. The other young hot shots have to last as long as he has to break those records. And when you look at the teams Montana, Bradshaw etc etc had around them compared to what Favre has had around him, it's obvious he's carried them to the winning records they've had.

Now as far as his retirement, he retired. If he wants to play some more he'll have to do it somewhere else. Rogers deserves his chance. :)

Pre-season means squat. I have seen a lot of QB 2nd stringers tear up the second stringers and grocery baggers in pre-season, you won't know until he plays a few games when it counts. Most folks had never even heard of the likes of Kurt Warner and Tom Brady until the primary quarterbacks (Green and Bledsoe on these two occasions) got hurt and they got a chance to play some real games.

Like I said earlier, Brett gives them the best chance to win this season, but if want a confident QB the year after and beyond, you have to let Rodgers adapt to playing real games.

FWIW, I'd love to see him with the J-E-T-S :D
