Pulling my short irons dead left and I'm frightened

Played the par 3 course with the kids again today, and for the second straight outing, I pulled 3 or 4 Wedges or 8 irons DEAD LEFT. No draw or movement to the left, just a dead pull, straight, high, on the sweet spot, but 20+ yards left of the pin, 10+ yards left of the green.

I've always been exclusively a left to right player with the longer irons, and pretty straight with the short irons, maybe a tiny little cut of a yard or two on the shorter clubs.

A decent enough player to get into the 70's about 50% of the time in the summer.... a dead pull to the left, without any right to left movement at all has NEVER been my problem. If anything, I chase the trend to cut my shots too much and miss right. I have not hit a draw in 15 years, and don't pull it left either. Hooks? Lol, what is a hook? Something to catch fish with, and not a part of my golf game, I can assure you that!

Anyone have any experience with this dead pull? After the first two, I was fiddling with my grip today (weakening both hands) and a bit with ball position, but I could not determing why some of my shots were right at the flag, while others were the dead pull.

Help!!!

Look to the standard cures for OVER THE TOP or CASTING moves. The OTT results in slices OR Dead Pulls with short irons if you are good enough to square the club face. Hope this helps.

Are your clubs fit for you? In the shorter clubs, if they are too upright or flat, it will result in a shot that will miss the target. Usually around 5 yards for every degree it is off.

Been using the right foot tip you gave me last week & it's been helping a ton.

That's dropping the right foot back to maybe the instep of left foot level. One way to achieve a proper plane and combat OTT. When you do this still keep your waist and shoulder square to target. As you groove this swing you should be able to square up again.

I'm not an Over the Top Guy or a Caster (carded a 79 last time out at 6,800+ yards and a slope 131), but those are good thoughts. I'm still thinking this has something to do with grip. Have not gone to the range... still. I'm too frightened and you can't hit balls while curled up in the fetal position at the mere sight of a wedge. Typnig tihs is aslo difficlut.

LOL, I actually had similar thoughts today at the 2 par 3 holes. I can nail a 180 yd shot from the fairway but put me in front of a 135 yd hole with a 9 iron in my hand & I start gasping for air. I have really learned to absolutely hate the par 3's. But I did learn today that a lot of my issues are grip related. Pulled one to the left with a 6 iron off the tee. Kept the same stance but lossened my grip up a bit & made sure I wasn't closing the club face as I swung thru & the ball went where I wanted. I'm thinking it may be some sort of wrist rotation deal going on, will have to investigate it a bit more.

It sounds like a swing plane issue. The plane is shifted too far to the left. When I get this issue of dead pulls like the visualize the proper plane the club and shaft will pass through and make my adjustments from there. I do not like to get too technical and trying at first to adjust by feel.

Were you off balance at the end of these pulls???? With your weight falling back and left???

I think I'm getting Lysdexia. Every time this thread pops up on my screen, I read it as
