what the heck is this thing?? I was reading up on it the other day and it's supposed to be; part short iron, part wedge, part putter and part chipper?? How in the hell?!! The pictures of it made it look pretty cool, but it just stinks of hacker tool.

Has anyone seen one of these in person, or tried it?? I may go out this afternoon in search of one...

Just a chipper which wants to be called different to avoid the shame of using one! lol:biglol:

FYI: The Niblick is to scoring clubs what the hybrid is to irons....the single best tech innovation since the dimpled golf ball.

Testing demonstrates that the Niblick leaves ball closer to hole on pitches and chips than conventional wedges....don't worry your playing partners will shut up pronto when you start sticking it on the flag for tap ins regularly. I carry all of the Niblicks...lofts 37 (no longer made) 42, 49 and 56. They replace 8, 9, PW and SW respectively....no double digit 'capper should be without 'em , imo....and they'd help single digit 'cappers if they can get past their own egos and give them an honest try.I have the better ones with zip grooves but they are now selling Niblicks with the new groove rule specs moving forward.

Necro!!! Thread is 5 years old. Thanks for the info.

It may be 5 years old but there are more than a few so-called "traditionalists" who smirk at the Niblick...until they see what it can do -especially for the average amateur duffer.

It is WAAAY more than just a chipper.

I'm guilty... I'd probably smirk. To myself of course, but smirk none the less. I'm sure somebody out there could kill me with Niblicks. I don't however believe it's because of the Niblicks. Hey, that's pretty cool man... say Niblicks three times real fast. Niblicks Niblicks Niblicks.

I really had nothing to say here, but since I clicked on it I figure I could up my post count while i'm here.:D

Over the years, there have been a number of "gimmicks" introduced to this game. The "reinvented" Niblick is one. It's all about marketing... convincing someone that a specific item/items is the Holy Grail and will take significant strokes off their game.

Will the Niblicks help all playing this game? Of course not. Neither does a specific manufacturer's iron design, a specific manufacturer's driver design, or a specific manufacturer's putter design. If the Niblicks would assist every player out there, why wouldn't every player be bagging an 8802 or a 2-Ball or the same putter Phil uses?

If this particular poster finds confidence in bagging something that looks like goose droppings on a stick... more power to him/her. You could find the similar set up by purchasing any of the many hybrid iron sets, with their short irons and wedges that are as eye-appealing as Rosie O'Donnell in the nude. You could find some of the old "Perfect Club" offerings. You could find some of the early Tiger Shark wedges. This game is 90% mental, with the other 10% all in your head. What ever tips your hat....

What is so special about the niblick? Isnt it just a glorified mid iron with a short shaft?

Good question. I don't plan on playing one, ever. But like Nut, I'm here so I might as well up my post count!

Now somebody like my comment so I can up my like count too!

The thought of Rosie O'donnell naked got me a little excited.

Here's an Excellent review of the Cleveland Niblick by independentgolfreviews:

I kicked around the idea of getting a Niblick but considering that you can get a decent no-name chipper for under $50, I found the Niblick to be a bit overhyped and overpriced.

You most assuredly would not feel that way had you given a Niblick a real road test.
I've used all manner of chippers ...and then I've used the Cleveland Niblicks: No Mas. Amigo.
