I have a couple interesting experiments lined up.
First experiment:
Today my friend told me he wants to try a steel shaft in his old driver. I've always regripped his clubs for him, but I've never built a club before. The plan is to pull the reax out of his old 425 and put a Dynamic Gold X100 in there. I picked up a propane pencil torch and I have a vise and all that. No puller, but we aren't too worried about that reax.

I have a question regarding this: does anybody know if Dick's Sporting Goods carries clubmaking supplies? Epoxy, shafting beads, ferrules, etc?

Second?
My putter misbehaved very severly today. On the practice green, sunlight reflected off the chrome. And I lipped out four birdie putts. Unacceptable. I have decided the ultimate punishment is stripping the chrome and letting it rust. Will muriatic acid do the trick? Other options? That will probably take place over the winter, after the golf season ends. Should be a pretty interesting experiment.

Does anybody know how long that driver should be? 43", 42.5"? Standard 45" length would make it feel very heavy, no?

I'd think it should be in the 43-43.5 inch range.
