Not sure if this belongs here or in the no golf for you section, I chose here since it kinda deals with club building. Anybody use a rotary tool like a dremel or Black & Decker to cuts, clean hosels etc? I have been looking at grabbing one for awhile now but haven't gotten around to it. I am thinking it would make cutting shafts, sanding and other club building things much easier but am always looking for other opinions...so any thoughts would be much appreciated!!!

I use one to cut off garbage shafts and to tip prep the new shaft before installation. Also to slightly rough up the inside of the hosel.

I used to use one for cutting graphite shafts until I got a bench grinder with a cut off wheel on it. It was faster than a grit edge hacksaw.

I have used a Roto zip with a 3 1/2" cutoff wheel the few times I have cut my shafts. Works well. Just put a piece of tape around where you intend to cut.

Dremels are a godsend....once you have one you will not understand how you survived without one.

Exactly. Get a dremel even if you never use it for golf club purposes. I'm 18 years old and I have my own dremel. :prop:

lol- i dont know if you're pulling my leg or not. really, you're 18?

btw, what does "j-h'er" mean? i googled it and got your shottalk posts.

i was wondering if a dremel could be used to regroove clubs. are the little circlular blades thin enough?

Sent'cha a PM. ;)

I imagine if you don't care about the legality of your clubs you could regroove them with a dremel... The fiberglass reinforced blades I have appear to be very similar in width to a groove. Doing so would most definitely move the depth beyond legal tolerances, though.
