I am thinking hard about getting a Comp NT 85 shaft for a new 3w head. The problem is that Golfworks has them for $45 but only in R or X flex. Is it better to trim an R to make it play firm or to leave an X alone and allow it to play softer than recommended?

PS-If anybody has any links to decent prices on these let me know!

if you get an X and it doesn't work out i'll take it off your hands!

Depending on your swing speed the R may not be a bad choice. I picked up a Comp NT 85 R flex a while back on closeout for I think $20 or so (too good a deal to pass up) and it's pretty stout. I may toss it in my Adams RPM LP 4W head since I hate the Prolaunch Blue that's in it now.

Anyway, the Comp NT feels every bit as stiff to me as the SK Fiber Tour Trac 90 Stiff I was considering putting in the Adams.
