Sold an R540XD about 3 weeks ago for $40. Shipped it out, all was good. Got an email after delivery that head has a rattle. Ok , no big deal it happens. I tell the buyer, return it. He emails back saying he googled the rattle and things he can live with it. Get positive feedback, positive feedback left.

3 days later I get an email, dude took the club to the range and lo and behold the shaft broke at the hosel. I think, this is weird I don't typically have shafts fail after 10 hits (my work isnt that shoddy and the shaft was brand new). I tell the buyer, I will refund $20 or you can ship it back and I will refund $40. My thought process was that eBay will automatically side with the buyer, not much i can do if he files a dispute.

Today, club arrives. Holy f#$k dude. This guy must have a worse OTT swing than me. All the ballmarks are on the heel and a huge dirt spot on the lower portion of the club-like he hit the club INTO the ground.

So, do I just refund this guy his $40 or do I fight him on principle. I don't need the $$, but $hit man...really??? I mean you would have to know ZIP about golf to put this story together....

What say you all?

Out of principle I'd fight it. Clearly the shaft broke because the buyer hit the ground repeatably. Drivers aren't supposed to have dirt/mud on the face.

I know that isn't the case here, but I hit my driver and woods kind of like a hybrid, like Sergio does it, I take up a bit of grass, or firmly brush it, needless to say I works for me, and works better for serge, no shame in hitting down with the driver, as long as you get the good result.

Hitting down with the driver is one thing. Hitting INTO the ground with the driver is another thing totally.

I forgot to mention that in his email to me asking to return it he said "...it could be due to my mishitting the club" as to the reason the shaft broke. Who knew? LOL

And the ferrule is split in half, like still on the club with a slice down the side so I can actually take it off and put it back on. Wtf?

My opinion as well. People that do this shit need their asses kicked.

I know a negative feedback may cost you more than just refunding and letting it go. So I understand that too.

That's the thing, he already left positive feedback so, not really sure how that would work.

Me either...good luck to ya though...

My logical side says let it go its only 40 bucks.

My other side says fvck that assh0le.
That's exactly where I am.

Let it ride. As much as you do on ebay, at some point the numbers are gonna work against you and that's what happened here. He was nice about it, you were nice about it, in the overall scheme of things it's just not worth it to fight it.
