Also, I passed on the Srixon putter. I was offered to buy a Scotty Futura for $100. I played 9 holes with it last season. Its been sitting in a bag for about two years. I guess I could revive it with a new grip and a good stroke

I took the pledge... I DID!! Bag was set. Backup to almost everything in the bag. No need for anything else for a long time. Yep... I took the pledge to make it through 2014 without any club trading/swapping/buying... and made it until mid-April.

Had the BStones as my backup set. Nice looking clubs. Played okay. Nothing great, but nice looking and feeling set of blades. Kept the Eye 2+ BeCu's in the bag and felt that someday I would transition to the BStones. That was my plan up until last Friday.
Got a little incentive check in the mail from work. Only a couple hundred dollars and, no, I didn't need anything for my golf addiction. But, made the mistake of stopping by the local golf store and.... I had noticed a set of G20's he had had on clearance for some time. When I walked back to the used area, there they were bundled up. I asked the owner and he said he had sold them, but the buyer played one round and hated them. He had a firesale price on them. Told him I would be right back. Our home is about 1 mile from this shop. Zoomed home, picked up the BStones, and returned to the store. I had picked up the BStones used from him last fall. Asked about trading them back and he offered me exactly what I had paid for them. Basically $100 difference. I told him I'd give him a crisp new $100 bill if he could take care of the 8.5% sales tax. No problem!!!
G20, 4-PW, Ping steel shafts in 'S' flex, one round on them. A one or two generations old set of BStone blades + $100!!???!! And, the Pings were my color code.
I've played the G20's everyday since Saturday. Been a long, long time since I've had a set of "shovels" in the bag. These are what one would call game improvement with a capital "G" and a capital "I". Huge, wide sole. Didn't know if I could stomach looking down on these monsters or not. But... Saturday, hit the first 3 greens. And, haven't looked back. I did strip off the standard grips, Saturday afternoon, and replaced them with my old reliable Lamkin Crossline Midsize.
These things hit the ball higher than I've ever hit a golf ball. But, they don't seem to lose distance. I'm hitting them one to one and a half clubs longer than the Eye 2+'s. Of course, they have much stronger lofts. The long irons look like I'm hitting hybrids. One of the things that is taking some getting used to is the ball is almost impossible to move left or right. They want to go straight.

So... blew my pledge!! Now, since I've already broken it... I may have to do some more ho'ing!!!!

Proudly standing by my plan for 2014, not to buy any new clubs this year. Outside balls and shoes I need nothing to improve. In fact I have a lesson booked tomorrow. The experiment will end at the end of the season, I'll measure success by my 'cap. Currently 6.6.
I guess I failed too when I bought that hybrid. I think you are the last hope, IG.

I'm , not 100 percent sure why I bought it, but I purchased a Titleist Scotty Cameron Futura. The original one for $100. I bought a super stroke fatso grip 5.0 going to find out how it works right now I've been putting well with my Nike bat-wing OZ6. I guess I just wanted to club ho. I will try and snap a pic or 2 and get them up in a little while

I love it. It feels sooooooo good, and I put lights out with it.

I don't understand the infatuation with the Super Stroke grips. I think they feel plasticy. Nice looking Scotty though.
