Anyone know how to prevent the white sweat marks from appearing on your dark hats? I am sorry if this sounds like a silly question, but I have ruined a lot of hats... Thank you

Sounds like you need better grips. I'd recommend Winn grips to help with head sweat and Crosslines for the sweaty pits.

Seriously?

Either don't wear a hat or just thow the sucker in the washer after your round. Then put it on a wig head to dry.

Alright, maybe I am the biggest idiot on the forum for asking such a silly question, but I have washed them with the baseball cap frame that you snap the hat into. I have the mesh titleist hats, and after washing them they completely lose their shape, to the point that the has has taken on a new shape. As far as white hats, I have tried that as well, they turn yellowish. I have to wear a hat because I am bald as a baby's butt, so sorry for asking such an elementary question but I am tired of having to replace these hats, if an easy solution is out there. Thanks!

I treat the sweat marks as right of passage. A perfectly clean hat, no thanks, a nicely worn marked up hat, now THAT my friend, is a real hat.

Just wear the suckers till they wear out, forget about the white sweat rings, it lest people know you are active.(or a really sweaty pesron...)

And don't mind doc(siberianDVM) hes just pissed off that most people can out drive him with a 5i :D

When sweat dries with direct sunlight, you will always get salt cristals impregned in the fabric. Unless you stop sweating or use white hats you'll see white marks, and even though white caps will turn yellowish due to the potassium chloride in your sweat. Remember as well, sunligth itself is enough to decolour a couple of grades from the original fabri color, worst if it is wet due to the prisma effect water drops cause. Some fabrics, mostly synthetic (nylon for example) don't stain, but they heat up your head and look hiddeous anyway.

You can try using a towel headband under your cap (if it fits to avoid direct contact with the cap, and don't touch it during the whoel round since your sweaty hands will cause the same effect.

I would say don't worry too much. Just use your stained caps until they break apart....

Just buy new hats... I probably go through 10 hats a year lol... I sweat a lot ;p

btw, i tried that Google search thingy, got some real answers there.

Google

this is from the first link it brought up:

take a toothbrush and scrub the sweaty parts of the hat with some shampoo, then wash the hat. most hats will keep their shape just fine in the washer and dryer.....or air dry. shampoo is made to break down body oils. you can also use this tip for ring-around-the-collar.
You can also stop sweat stains before they happen. I use a product called Hat Saver that you spray on the outside of your new hat and you never get sweat stains to clean. I then just wash the headband on the inside of the hat if it starts to smell or gets real dirty. You can buy it at hatsaver.com. In addition to sprays and washing, you can also protect your hat with a wicking hat liner, like the CrownWear Head Liner. The keep sweat out of your eyes and filter out the dirt, salt and oils in your sweat to prevent stains and odors and extend the life of your hat.

there's other tips, i read one using vinegar..etc..

Skip the plastic frame thing and just wash them on the top rack of the dishwasher. It's a lot less abusive on the hat and should help it maintain it's shape.

Unless you don't have/want a dishwasher. Then the plastic thing works just fine.
