after 5 holes. Was playing pretty well too, but the 80º temp has every extreme hacker in the county out on the course. I skipped ther 1st 2 holes due to a 4some of women who literally couldn't hit the ball more than 150 yds if you combined all 4 of their drives. Now I know there are women who play great, these definitely weren't them.

So went to the 3rd & caught up to a husband/wifetwosome by the time I finished the 4th. They asked if I wanted to play thru but like an idiot I said no because there wa s 3some right in front of them. Little did I know the 3some was playing 2+ holes to every 1 for the couple. I literally watched the wife take 8-9 shots to reach the green on a 340 yd par 4, then 6 putt.

Finished up with the 7th & couldn't bare to play behind them any longer since it was actually painful to see that womans swing. So I went back to the 1st hole & wouldn't you know but there was a 4some, father & 3 young kids. One of the kids couldn't have been more than 6-7 & his dad had him playing off the whites, took him 3 shots just to reach the womens tee box.

I gave up & walked off the course, 1 1/2 hrs to play 5 holes is ridiculous. Will wait for the weather to cool back down & the extreme hackers will be no more.

Sounds about right.

My girl was very surprised that I was home when she got out of work. She thought I'd be out playing. Between the leaves and the perfect weather, I really want nothing to do with a Sunday round. I'll wait a week, work will be dead and then play on a weekday. Best time of year now. Triggs greens are in good shape, recently worked on and all healed up. Leagues are done as well as tournaments. Can't beat a Donald Ross gem, 6600/130 par 72 for $22.50.

Thats a funny story. You should try getting up earlier any time before 9:30 is usually good. My formula for this is to play during the week (very few can) and practice on the weekend. I like to drink some brews hang with the girlfriend and fire up the grill with some college football and the buddies on the weekend. Or go a little later in the day, but I would just do what you said ? cheers

Maan 6600 , wish I could play on that course. My home course is a whopping 7400 yrd at a 138 rating I bet you got some nice drivable par 4s on that trac

My formula for the weekend is don't go out as a single #1 and #2, don't bother with the hack tracks. The more expensive the course, the less likely there will be crappy golfers out there. It's pretty much impossible to go out as a single on a weekend around here anyway. You need a tee time 2-3 days in advance and a lot of the time they won't even take a 2 or 3some, have to have a 4some to get a time. When I went to Jacksonville they had the LastMinuteGolfer deal at a ton of courses. That's like a godsend for the single golfer, providing you don't mind being joined up with strangers.

Not really. None are drivable. Shortest is 327yds.. If you can carry an elevated green 327 at 80ft. above sea level, your more of man than... Bubba Watson. :D

3 par 3's are over 200. Par 5's are short but lots of trouble. If you can thread the needle with a driver 7i can be hit into 3 of them, miss and you can tee up another one and try again, this time for the eagle/par. So yardage can be deceiving. It's the course where a portion of the RI Amatuer is played, Div1 NCAA tournaments and a pro event for New England.

Ohh one of those short a tricky tracs ehh. Those are the best ones. Well now Im jealous because back home in Cali I had a place called Lincoln GC that we called poor mans Pebble Beach and It was a 6400 yrd par 68 that was just brutal. The course record is 62 and has stood for like 55 years which goes to show you. The 17th hole is a 236 yrd par 3 that runs along the coast with the Golden Gate bridge in the background , its just beautiful. I mean just shooting in the 70s is like shooting in the high 80s there. But was always wide open during the week with no one around but a racoon or a coyote, along with some fog.

Yeah, it can be a little tricky. Pretty demanding course off the tee. For the yardage I'd say it's the best laid out track I've played. I play one that's 6900 that plays a lot shorter and easier. I can't wait till construction is done on the course I learned to play on. It's going to a little over 7K and down in the swamp of South County, the highest elevation is going to be about 8-9ft. above sea level. I just hope the price is reasonable.

You should try getting up earlier....

We are ALWAYS the first group off on Saturdays and Sundays. We can have anywhere from a twosome to six or eight. (Over 5 and we break into two group.) We had 4 this morning and played 18 in 2 hours 45 minutes... walking!!

I'm spoiled! Will NOT go out if can't get off really early. The only exception is to wait until late afternoon and only play 9.

We've had numerous people say they would like to join us. They make it out once or twice and then say they just can't drag themselves out that early on a weekend. Panzies!!!!:biglol:

Today when I played my round I was waiting for a guy and his taughter to finish up ahead of me on almost every hole.
No biggie. The weather was so beautifull today that I didnt mind waiting.

I've scored lower on a 7600 148 than a 6800 track with 146. Design is huge now a days.

I play this course quite a bit on sunday mornings, typically I will hit it just as church begins & it's normally dead. The nice weather just brought out every major league hacker.

I did the same. Your ladies could hit further than mine. I sat twenty minutes on a short par 4 hole 340 yards, granted it was hilly but dayum. Luckily I got in nine before catching them on the back nine. The same in front of them too, four ladies playing. My four ladies in front of me only had two bags also.

I didn't get snotty I just left.

I've played Triggs a few times and I'm not sure I've ever even kept score for the hole round - the layout at that course (and most donald ross courses) seems to make me make stupid decisions that result in ridiculous scores
