Texas Course Review - a Canadian's persepective

I shoulda got sick & driven down on Friday. The skies opened up on Sunday & a 6 hour drive (3 down & 3 back) in the rain to not play golf seemed sorta pointless. :(

I really feel bad about missing. Particularly after hearing from SWMBO "You're going to drive to Austin to play golf with some guys from the internet?...", she actually said more but I went into "yes, Dear" mode.

It sucks to be poor & have to work for a living. I at least get to drink the bottle of Bookers that I bought.:)

That's almost the exact reaction I got from my wife when I came up to play with you and IG. The comments were even better when Irish called the house at 5am on a Saturday morning.

Yeah, but I had to spend all day, in the house, while it's raining & walk from room to room looking for something to do. I drank some brown whiskey, it was really good whiskey. So I drank some more. SWMBO got pi$$essed.

This almost universal...regardless of country.

Wives are biologically programmed to oppose male golfers from across the globe to engage in heavy drinking and golf/bonding activities....

Must be in the genes.

That's killer Rock! Man I wish I could join you guys sometime, maybe I'll have to entertain some folks out here though(COME TO NEW MEXICO NEXT PEOPLE...I want to meet and play with you guys). :)

Those are beautiful courses, and great pics. Dave sure is Mr. Cool now though.

I appreciate this thread. Thanks for the photos -- never played Texas golf.

I'm in Myrtle and work at one of the top courses and get to meet a lot of Canadians. Truth be told, ya'll are always very polite and serious about your golf.

And, if I see you're lefty (as many Canadians are) I automatically...give you serious discounts. ;)

Again -- thanks for the pics and the post. They're interesting photos.

It is not just golf, I play softball too and the wife can't understand when I go places to play tourney's with guys I have never met.

Smashing pics and thread guys ... Fair play to ya Rock, that was an odyssey to match Homer's ! - Is Rock reluctant to assume the ST champion crown ?

How's about the ST get together being held in Canada ... it's nearer to Ireland than America ... check out any good courses in Newfoundland will ya ?

IG ... you gonna post pics of our last meet

Bravo:

What about a continguent of us head to Florida at this time next year, then....? :) :beach3: :usflag:

You guys should have made the short drive to The Bandit.
It is one of my favorite places to play down there.
Of course there is colovita, terevista, I could go on and on. :)

I've played the Bandit. Very fun course. La Cantera is also well worth a drive. And Silverhorn is the local's course in the San Antoinio area, and my favorite of the three. A real player's course. What I was doing there is a complete mystery. I go to San Antonio every other year for a vendor meeting. I'll holler at Dave next year. Other courses in that area on my list are Pecan Valley and The Quarry.

I would definitely make it to an ST tourney in Myrtle.

Nice report Rock. Too bad the weather didn't cooperate, but it sounds like you had good company, and good times.

Dave E and R35 - VERY COOL!

So does that mean that Rock is the new reigning ST champion?

Yes he is. We used the Sunday round as the official tournament and after adding our indexes in he beat me by a stroke. You'll have to find a way to get to Canada on business now to take back the title.

Seeing as how he was taking from both yerself and the missus all week, comes as no surprise he wrestled the crown aswell ;) ... congrats on you exemplary hosting btw .. do I sense a new avatar is on it's way ?
