The theory about making putting easier is impossible to prove. In short, it's a load of crap.

Thongchai Jaidee just lost the final of the World Match Play to GMac through poor putting - with his belly putter. He frittered away a 2 up lead by missing easy putts. All of a sudden GMac started sinking long putts with his short putter.

I'll stop before I get more started on this one.

Word. I don't believe it even removes the number of variables... the variables just change. That said, I don't like long putters and wouldn't use one. I don't actually care one way or the other about the rules change. It wont hurt my feelings at all one way or the other.

I dont understand the problem with the long putter. I mean, if it gave an advantage to someone that someone else couldnt get by buying the same kind of putter, then ok...but thats not the case.
Ive seen guys with long putters miss just as often as with normal putters so I really dont understand what the big deal is.

Its not about unfair advantage. Its about anchoring the club, any club.
