Serial numbers don't mean shiit. I bought a set of brand new Titleist irons off Ebay and they had numbers. They looked fishy so I called Acushnet and the numbers checked out, but the rep I was talking to told me to see if a magnet would stick to the tungsten sole. It did. Tungsten is not magnetic. They were stainless steel, cast knock offs. They looked almost perfect. Thankfully I got my money back. So, like I said, serial numbers does not mean they are real.
