... where would you live and why?

Me? It's a tough one. I have a few suspects.
1. Thailand. Why? Warm, cheap and cosmopolitan.
2. USA. Why? I find the place fascinating. Probably gravitate to the Bay Area.
3. Maybe NZ. Only problem is there's too many New Zealanders there.

Australia, because I know this guy with a kick-ass bar downstairs.

Australia would be my first choice, probably followed by Canada.

I would like to live in a rural part of New Zealand. I don't want to drive an hour for a jug of milk, but I definitely don't want to live in a city. Solar roof on my house, maybe raise some cows and have a big garden...yeah, that's sounds splendid. It wouldn't hurt to live near Cape Kidnappers golf course either. :)

I suspect once you dug a little deeper you'd gravitate away from the Bay Area.

Myself... Australia.

Nothing wrong with the bay area, tons to see and do and unlimited restaurants.
Australia...I don't like giant snakes and spiders.

I have no idea where I would go, never traveled much abroad. I know where I wouldn't go. My BIL will be going back to antarctica soon, not interested in living there, pretty much anywhere in the Middle East, SE Asia-to damn hot/humid, Russia, not real interested in S America- no particular reason though, probably not Africa either. Although I'm curious about South Africa-two words: Air Jaws.

So that leaves Europe, Australia and NZ. You guys choose for me.

Let's see, if I couldn't live in the United States I'd probably move to Wisconsin. Woops! I guess just because they talk funny up there, we still put up with them!!! :>) My first reaction would be Canada. The winters, there, would get to me. So, where is a fairly moderate climate that would allow me to play golf year round but be a mostly English speaking country. Hmmm... I'm intrigued by South Africa. That's a really progressive country with a moderate climate.

I've lived in Taiwan, Morocco and the UAE.

I enjoyed them all for a variety of reasons, but the one I'm actually considering returning to is the UAE (assuming the ME doesn't totally deteriorate).

I'd love to live in southern Europe ... the Alps or on the Mediterranean or Adriatic coast.
