Interesting perspective I heard recently. Rory is a form player, very different from Nicklaus and Woods. When on song he is terrific, but he lacks the consistency that Woods had in his prime, number of consecutive cuts / top 10s etc.

Rory tends to miss cuts, when his swing is out of sync we saw what happened. He needs to focus on more consistency in his swing to avoid big numbers. In the meantime he needs to hit veins of form that will see him bag 4-5 tourneys a year.

The whole media circus has not helped and the fact that he is being lauded / carrying round the mantle of the best player in the world doesn't help at his age. it's a lot of pressure which will lead to him reacting the way he did.

I think Toothgate was damage limitation from the PGA Tour / Nike. The truth is that Rory needs to fall a bit before he can pick himself up again.
